A synthetic polymer composition comprising: a major amount of synthetic hydratable polymers, and a minor amount of natural hydratable polymers, where the synthetic hydratable polymers are selected from the group consisting of (a) high molecular weight homo- and/or copolymers of acrylic acid crosslinked with polyalkenyl polyethers, (b) high molecular weight hydrophobically modified, cross-linked polyacrylate polymers, (c) hydrophilic, anionic, high molecular weight, cross-linked polyacrylic acid polymers, and (d) mixtures or combinations thereof, where the natural hydratable polymers are selected from the group consisting of polysaccharides, polyacrylamides, polyacrylamide copolymers, and mixtures or combinations thereof, where the polymer composition builds viscosity after being combined with an aqueous base fluid, where the polymer composition breaks using one breaker or a plurality of breakers, where the major amount is between 80 wt. % up to 100 wt. % and where the minor amount is between 0 wt. % and 20 wt. %.
