The present invention provides a method for determining a treatment procedure for breast cancer, a method of predicting a likelihood of success in treating breast cancer, and a method for selecting an endocrine therapy agent for treating breast cancer. In particular, methods of the present invention rely on the amount of androgen receptor (AR) and estrogen receptor (ER) in a tissue sample.

1. A method for predicting a likelihood of responding positively to an endocrine therapy of a breast cancer patient comprising:
determining the amount of androgen receptor (AR) and estrogen receptor (ER) present in a tissue sample of the patient; and comparing the amount of AR and ER in the tissue sample; wherein a positive correlation between AR and ER is indicative of a likelihood of a positive response to an anti-estrogen endocrine therapy.
