PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect abrasion of a sensor.SOLUTION: A register sensor includes a rotatable narrow linear member 372, a shading piece 373b rotating according to the inclination of the narrow linear member 372, and a first sensor 374 and a second sensor 375 for detecting the rotation position of the shading piece 373b. When the narrow linear member 372 comes into contact with a tip of a conveyed manuscript MS and inclines with a first inclination, the shading piece 373b rotates to a first position, and turns on the first sensor 374 and the second sensor 375 (a). Thereafter, when the narrow linear member 372 rides over the manuscript MS and inclines with a second inclination, the shading piece 373b rotates to a second position, turns on the first sensor 374 and turns off the second sensor 375 (b). A control section calculates the time period since the first sensor 374 and the second sensor 375 are turned on until the first sensor 374 is turned on and the second sensor 375 is turned off, and detects the abrasion of the narrow linear member 372 on the basis of the calculated time period. |
