PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem in which previously described treatments of gastrointestinal disease such as IBD and IBS using probiotics have proven not sufficiently beneficial, and to improve them to be a serious supplement or even an alternative to traditional treatment with chemical substances.SOLUTION: A daily therapeutic composition for human patients with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) contains a) at least 10 g (dry weight) of a fermented cereal and b) at least 5×10cfu of non-pathogenic microorganisms.
