<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact intake manifold having superior heat resistance and integrally formed with an EGR passage and a surge tank.SOLUTION: An intake manifold is constituted by a resin-made upper element 2, and a part of the branch pipes 6, 7 and 8 and a part of a surge tank 5 are integrally formed to the upper element 2. A lateral long EGR gas distributing segment 17 extending across a group of branch pipes is arranged at the rear part of an upper surface of the upper element 2 and a cover plate 18 is deposited at its upper surface. A mating plane between the EGR gas distributing segment 17 and the cover plate 18 is formed with a branch EGR passage composed of EGR grooves 26, 27. The EGR gas distributing segment 17 is arranged near the terminal ends of the branch pipes 6, 7 and 8 and a throttle valve fixing seat 13 is arranged before the EGR gas distributing segment 17. Since the EGR gas distributing segment 17 is cooled with intake gas flowing through the branch pipes 6, 7 and 8 and the surge tank 5, it is hardly damaged with heat.</p> |
