摘要 FIELD: physics, video.SUBSTANCE: invention relates to video surveillance. Methods of determining optimum configuration and settings of a video monitoring system is characterised by collecting a plurality of parameters relating to characteristics of video monitoring points and characteristics of the installation territory thereof. Characteristics of the territory include landscape characteristics, weather data and forest fire data. Some of the parameters relating to characteristics of video monitoring points are controllable. The method includes setting a system performance indicator, which is an integral value describing a probability model which generalises at least part of the parameters; selecting versions of arranging video monitoring points on a plurality of possible positions on the territory, where an optimum set of parameters which optimise the performance indicator is determined for the established arrangement of video monitoring points. The performance indicator is calculated with variation of controllable parameters, wherein for the method for optimum setup of the system, the controllable parameters are adjusted to the optimum set of parameters. The optimum configuration of the system is determined by comparing the obtained versions of arrangement of monitoring points, for which optimum sets of parameters are determined, and the version of arrangement with the best performance indicator is selected. The video monitoring system 100 comprises a setup module, which is configured to calculate the system performance indicator, determine the optimum set of parameters which optimise the system performance indicator and adjust the controllable parameters of the video monitoring system to the optimum set of parameters.EFFECT: creating an optimum configuration of the video monitoring system, wherein each video monitoring point has its own optimum set of parameters, which in turn provides high efficiency of operation and use of the system for the purpose of early detection of forest parameters.28 cl, 16 dwg, 8 tbl
