PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To change the size of an OSD screen according to the size of a projection image being actually projected on a projection target surface, so as to display the OSD screen in a size suitable for a user.SOLUTION: An image projection device creates a projection image 160 on the basis of a video signal and projects the projection image 160 on a screen 150, and includes projection image size calculation means for calculating the size of the projection image 160 being displayed on the screen 150, and superimposition image projection means for superimposing an OSD screen 170 on the projection image 160 and project the superimposed image, where the superimposition image projection means changes the size of the OSD screen 170 to be displayed on the screen 150 according to the size of the projection image 160 calculated by the projection image size calculation means.
