A printing apparatus comprising: a first feeding roller configured to feed a printing sheet stacked on a stacking unit; a feeding motor configured to drive said first feeding roller; a second feeding roller driven by said feeding motor and configured to convey the printing sheet fed by said first feeding roller; a conveyance roller configured to convey the printing sheet conveyed by said second feeding roller; a conveyance motor configured to drive said conveyance roller; a printing unit configured to print the printing sheet conveyed by said conveyance roller; a detection unit, arranged between said second feeding roller and said conveyance roller, configured to detect a leading edge of the printing sheet; and a control unit configured to, when said printing unit performs a printing operation on a preceding sheet as a printing sheet precedingly fed from the stacking unit, drive said feeding motor in synchronization with said conveyance motor before said detection unit detects a leading edge of a succeeding sheet as a printing sheet succeedingly fed from the stacking unit, and continuously drive said feeding motor so that a conveying speed of the succeeding sheet by said feeding motor becomes higher than a conveying speed of the preceding sheet by said conveyance motor after said detection unit detects the leading edge of the succeeding sheet.
