[Class 53] A dry cell is provided with a metal top 12 which fits over the carbon electrode 5 and is held in position by the upper edge of the container which is bent inwardly as shown at 10, in Fig. 1. The zinc cup 4 is enclosed in a cardboard casing 9 which is bent over the upper edge of the cup to insulate the latter from the metal top. A washer 8 supports asphalt or other sealing material 11 in which the inturned edge of the casing 9 is embedded. |
