596,689. Reversible casement windows. MURRAY, W. C, June 28, 1945, No. 16520. [Class 20(iii)] A casement window in which the glazed frame 2 is pivoted 3 on each of two opposite sides 4 of a U-shaped element, so as to move through substantially 180 degrees, and in which the intermediate portion 5 of this element is pivoted at 6 to the fixed frame 1, has a hinged latch 8 accessible from inside the glazed frame for releasably locking the glazed frame to the U-shaped element so that when desired they may be turned together about the pivots 6 on the fixed frame. As shown, a bracket 7 fixed to the U-shaped element has a pivoted latch 8 which passes through an aperture 9 in the glazed frame and engages therewith. The invention may be applied to either vertically or horizontally pivoting windows. |
