The tool chain magazine has a stationary carrier construction, at which linear guidance, chain wheels (2) and a power equipment are mounted. The power equipment is provided as rotary drive for the chain wheels. Chain elements (6) of a magazine chain (1) are formed from tubular retainers. Front and rear connecting joints of the chain elements are arranged in a central longitudinal axis of the magazine chain. An independent claim is also included for a magazine chain for retaining tools for a tool chain magazine.
