Actual coordinates (33, 36) of a plurality of measurement points (11) are determined on the reference surface (74), and the determined actual coordinates (33, 36) are compared to target coordinates (34) of the measurement points (11) on the reference surface (74). In the following method step, proceeding from the deviations (35, 37) between the actual coordinates (33, 36) and the target coordinates (34), a plurality of compensation values (40, 50, 51, 52, 53) are calculated for the individual fringes (5) of the projection pattern (3).
