580,918. Securing machines to foundations. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd., WILSON, H., and GRAY, T. E. H. Dec. 9, 1944, Nos. 24716/44 and 19238/45. [Class 80 (iv)] [Also in Group XXXII] A machine 2 or the like is attached resiliently to a supporting base 3 by a pad 1 of resilient material, such as rubber, which is located between the machine 2 and the base 3 and has an extension 4 entering an aperture 5 in the base, the extension 4 being compressed after assembly, such as by a bolt 7, so that it grips the walls of the aperture. A sleeve may be mounted on the bolt to limit the amount of compression. In a modification, the pad has an upper extension entering a hole in the machine frame, the upper extension being compressed simultaneously with the lower extension. In another modification extensions 4, 11, Fig. 17, on the pad 1 are initially longer than the accommodating recesses 5, 12, but are compressed by the weight of the machine to grip the walls of the recesses 5, 12. The upper extension may be omitted. In another modification, the extension on a pad enters between the side walls of a pair of girders and is compressed by a pair of bolts acting on a cross bar. In another modification the nut 8 and bolt 7, Fig. 2, is replaced by a T-bolt. As shown in Fig. 13 the extension 4 is compressed by forcing a bolt 19, shaped as shown, into a hole in the pad 1. |
