The method involves supplying water to a washing and/or rinsing sump (4) of a washing tank (2). A set of valves (9) i.e. solenoid valves, is opened, and a water recovery pump (8) is started so as to evacuate part of washing and/or rinsing water from the sump of the washing tank to a washing and/or rinsing water tank (5). The valves are maintained in an open position so as to evacuate air imprisoned in a water distribution hydraulic pump, provided between the sump of the washing tank and the water tank, by a flow of water by gravity from the sump towards the washing tank.
