<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and method for manufacturing an endless metal ring that is superior in durability, in relation to a transmission belt for a belt-type continuously variable transmission for a vehicle using an endless metal ring. <P>SOLUTION: The method includes: a residual stress application step of adjusting tension stress applied to a belt-like metal member 12 within the range of variation of compressive residual stress remaining closer to an outer periphery side or an inner periphery side than an acceptable neutral plane N of the belt-like metal member 12 to thereby adjust a circumferential length of the belt-like metal member 12, thus improving the dimension accuracy of the circumferential length of the belt-like metal member 12. As a result, in the residual stress application step P9, the dimension accuracy of the circumferential length of the belt-like metal member 12 is improved while the compressive residual stress applied to a side closer to the outer periphery than the neutral plane N of the belt-like metal member 12 given in a previous circumferential length adjustment step P8, and the compressive residual stress applied to a side closer to the inner periphery than the neutral plane N of the belt-like metal member 12 in the residual stress application step P9, are kept within an acceptable range. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT</p> |
