<p>A banknote deposit/withdrawal mechanism (4), provided with: a conveyance path (47) for conveying a banknote; a banknote discriminating unit (42) for reading a denomination and serial number; a circulation box (45) for housing and dispensing a banknote; a storage unit (49) for storing the denomination, serial number and order of housing; a conveyance path sensor (48) for detecting a conveyance failure; an operation/display unit (6) for displaying failure information; and a controller (50). The controller (50) selects the upper-most banknote housed in the circulation box as the cycling banknote, and executes: a cycling banknote selection process for reading from the storage unit(49) the serial number that corresponds to the cycling banknote and storing the serial number as cycling banknote information; a cycling process for sending the cycling banknote out to the conveyance path (47) to complete a cycle; and a failure information outputting process for displaying on the operation/display unit (6), as failure information, the cycling banknote information when a conveyance failure caused by the cycling banknote is detected.</p> |
