A vehicular program rewriting system comprising: an electronic control unit including a storage unit that stores a program therein and which is capable of rewriting the program; a rewriting device for rewriting the program; and a battery for supplying electric power in order to operate a drive source of a vehicle and the electronic control unit, wherein the rewriting device is configured to predict a state of the battery after the program is rewritten, by using a state of the battery when the program starts to be rewritten and an expected processing time for rewriting the program, and the rewriting device is configured to determine if the predicted state of the battery satisfies a condition of restarting the vehicle, and if so, rewrite the program, wherein the rewriting device is configured to determine if a current consumed by the battery or an internal resistance of the battery when the program starts to be rewritten is greater than a predetermined value, and if so, stop rewriting the program even thought the predicted state of the battery satisfies the condition for restarting the vehicle.
