A phase change ink composition comprising: an amorphous compound; a crystalline compound; and an organic pigment; wherein the phase change ink crystallizes faster from the liquid state than the same composition without the organic pigment, and wherein the pigment has an average particle size of 10 to 400 nm, wherein the amorphous compound comprises a first ester of tartaric acid of Formula I wherein, one of R1 and R2 is 2-isopropyl-5-methylcyclohexyl, and the other one of R1 and R2 is 2-isopropyl-5-methylcyclohexyl, 4-t-butylcyclohexyl, or cyclohexyl, or one of R1 and R2 is 4-t-butylcyclohexyl, and the other one of R1 and R2 is cyclohexyl; and the crystalline compound comprises an ester of tartaric acid of Formula III wherein each R6 and R7 is independently an aryl or a heteroaryl optionally substituted with a lower alkyl and alkoxy, each n is independently 0 to 3.
