The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for evaluating and supporting the safety of an acupuncture treatment. The apparatus for evaluating and supporting safety of an acupuncture treatment comprises: a sensing device to acquire a biometric signal of a patient; an autonomic nervous system analysis unit to repeatedly perform autonomic nervous system analysis based on the biometric signal; an acupuncture treatment permission unit to determine and notify whether an acupuncture treatment is permitted based on a result of the autonomic nervous system analysis, if the acupuncture treatment is requested; and a side effect prediction unit to continuously monitor the result of the autonomic nervous system analysis before, during, and after the acupuncture treatment to predict and notify a side effect occurrence possibility and whether a side effect has occurred.
