A method of inhibiting ErbB2-induced cell proliferation in an individual having an ErbB2-dependent cancer, by inhibiting the ligand-independent activation of ErbB2 in the cells of said individual, comprising administering to said individual a pharmaceutical composition comprising: a polypeptide selected from the group consisting of the FERM domain of an ERM protein, an ERM protein mutant and a fragment thereof provided that said ERM protein mutant and said fragments are able to inhibit the ligand-independent activation of ErbB2 in cells, or at least one nucleic acid encoding said polypeptide, wherein said polypeptide comprises at least one polypeptide selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NO:1, SEQ ID NO:2, SEQ ID NO:3 and SEQ ID NO:4.
