The present invention relates to a photovoltaic system comprising energy storage device and a control method thereof. A photovoltaic system according to the present invention includes a photovoltaic module; a power conversion module which converts the DC output current of the photovoltaic module into the output current of pulsating current waveform; a DC link condenser which is connected to the power conversion module in parallel; a system connection inverter which is connected to the DC link condenser in parallel, converts the output current of the pulsating current waveform into a sine wave, and connects a commercial power system or a consumer-side load; an energy storage device which is connected to the DC link condenser in parallel, receives energy from the DC link condenser and stores the energy, or supplies energy to the DC link condenser; and a control part which determines the operation mode of the energy storage device and controls the energy storage device according to the determined operation mode.
