<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser light source driving device and a display device that express a desired gradation with a laser light source.SOLUTION: A laser light source driving device has a light source for performing laser oscillation when supplied with current of a threshold current value or more, an external light detector for detecting an external light intensity, and light source control means for supplying current to the light source based on a light intensity characteristic to drive the light source. A light intensity characteristic P has a first straight line P1 which is expressed as a straight line representing the relationship between the current supplied to the light source and the light intensity of the light source and contains a current value less than a threshold current value, and a second straight line P2 containing a current value of the threshold current value or more. When the external light intensity detected by the external light detector is less than a predetermined value, the light source control means sets the initial current value to zero, and then supplies the driving current corresponding to required light intensity to the light source based on the first straight line P1 and the second straight line P2.</p> |
