PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the generation of smoke while suppressing preignition.SOLUTION: An engine 1 comprises: an engine main body which has a piston 15 arranged in a cylinder 11, and in which a combustion chamber 17 is partitioned by the cylinder 11 and the piston 15; an injector 33 which directly injects fuel containing at least gasoline into the combustion chamber 17 via a nozzle port 41; and an engine controller 100 which controls a direct injection form of the injector 33. The engine controller 100 makes the injector 33 perform first injection 8 for continuously injecting fuel sprays, and second injection 9 for continuously injecting fuel sprays whose grain diameters are smaller than those of the first injection 8 at a latter half of a compression stoke, and performs self-ignition combustion. |
