Suggested are a method and an apparatus for driving an LED by using a dsPIC of an inexpensive type. The method for driving an LED using a dsPIC suggested in the present invention includes the steps of: enabling a digital control IC to receive an output voltage and an output current from a power stage; generating a signal for driving the power stage by using a preset programming of the digital control IC; and enabling the digital control IC to output the signal for driving the power stage at the time point when a current of a transformer of the power stage is 0.
