PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an underpants-type diaper which has an excellent appearance while sufficiently securing welding strength at side parts.SOLUTION: An absorbent article manufacturing method includes: a process of setting a cutting position during the conveyance of a lower side belt-like member in a conveyance direction and forming an adhesion region by making an adhesive adhere to a first region which includes the cutting position and has a prescribed width in the conveyance direction; a process of arranging an elastic member in a state of being expanded in the conveyance direction in such a manner that a part of the elastic member is overlapped with the adhesion region; a process of making the lower side belt-like member and the upper side belt-like member adhere to each other at the adhesion region by overlapping them with each other so that the elastic member is held between them; a process of folding the lower side belt-like member and the upper side belt-like member at a central part in an intersecting direction; a process of forming a welding part where the lower side belt-like member and the upper side belt-like member are welded in a second region which is provided on both sides of the first region in the conveyance direction and has a prescribed width in the conveyance direction; and a process of cutting the lower side belt-like member, the upper side belt-like member, and the elastic member together at the cutting position to separate a lower side exterior member and an upper side exterior member that are formed into a shape of underpants.
