PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the data size of an image while suppressing deterioration of the image.SOLUTION: The CPU of a compound machine calculates the feature amount of each object constituting the background area of an input image (S205), and in accordance with a processing order fixed on the basis of the feature amount, performs reduction processing of the data size of each object (S235, S240). In the reduction processing, the object is reduced with a reduction percentage corresponding to the feature amount, and JPEG compression of the object is performed with a compression table corresponding to the feature amount. At a stage where the data sizes of all the objects reach a target data size (S245: Yes), the reproduction processing is completed. |
