摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air flow control device for an internal combustion engine capable of reducing heat loss by controlling intensity of an air flow in consideration of a trade-off relation between promotion of heat transfer by intensifying air flow in a combustion chamber and increase of a combustion amount in the vicinity of a wall surface by weakening the air flow.SOLUTION: An ECU 50 acquires a combustion condition such as a spray speed for determining a combustion region formed in a combustion chamber 11 of an engine 10. It is determined whether or not the combustion region can be changed to an inner side by intensification of an air flow based on the acquired combustion condition. When it is possible to change the combustion region to the inner side, the air flow suctioned from a swirl generation port 12 is intensified by adjusting an opening of an SCV 41. Thus, a contact area between the combustion region and a wall surface can be reduced, and heat loss can be totally reduced. When it is not possible to change the combustion region to the inner side, the air flow is weakened or intensity of the air flow is maintained. Thus, increase of a heat transfer coefficient can be suppressed, and the heat loss can be totally reduced.
