PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing new acrolein or acrylic acid, especially a technique capable of persistently producing acrylic acid or the like by using a biomass raw material.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for producing acrylic acid using the following steps: (1) a step of obtaining isopropyl alcohol by a fermentation method (fermentation step); (2) a step of heating the isopropyl alcohol obtained in the fermentation step in the presence of oxygen and partially oxidizing the isopropyl alcohol by using a partial oxidation catalyst A to obtain acrylic acid or acrolein (partial oxidation step A); and (3) a step of further partially oxidizing a mixture of the acrylic acid or acrolein obtained in the partial oxidation step A in the presence of oxygen using a partial oxidation catalyst B to produce acrylic acid (partial oxidation step B). |
