PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect occurrence of a failure through a simple process when a failure occurs at a steering angle sensor for detecting steering angle of a steering wheel or a mechanical element or the like interlocked with a rotational action of a steering motor.SOLUTION: A steering deice for a vehicle includes a steering mechanism for steering a steering wheel of a vehicle by driving of a steering motor 34 according to operation with operation means, a motor angular sensor 36 for detecting a rotational angle of the steering motor 34 as a cyclic electric angle, a steering angle sensor for detecting steering angle of the steering wheel, memory means in which a correspondence relation between detected electric angle and steering angle is stored in advance, and failure determination means which determines presence of failure by comparing a relation between the detected electric angle and the steering angle with a correspondence relation between the electric angle and the steering angle that are stored in the memory means. |
