610,939. Gas turbine plant; centrifugal compressors. ELLOR, J. E. April 11, 1946, No. 11233. [Classes 110 (i) and 110 (iii)] In a gas turbine plant the turbine is connected to the air compressor and a power output shaft through a differential gear so that the speeds at which the compressor and output shaft run are determined by their torque reaction on the differential gear. The air compressor 10 and power output shaft 22 are driven by the gas turbine 17 through an epicyclic gear train 21 comprising a planet cage 23 carrying a series of compound plant pinions, each of which consists of a small pinion 24 meshing with a sun-wheel 25 and a large pinion 26 meshing with a smaller sun-wheel 27 mounted on a shaft 28 connected through a coupling 29 to the compressor shaft. The air from the compressor is preheated in a heat-exchanger 11 before entering the combustion chamber 13 by the exhaust gases of the turbine.
