A method for playing a multimedia content in a first device of a communications system according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises the following processes: receiving a buffer storage capacity of a second device from the second device; when receiving a user backward seek (UIBC) command from the second device, determining a location for playing the multimedia content according to the UIBC command in the buffer of the second device based on the buffer storage capacity of the second device; and reporting information of the determined location to the second device.
