Disclosed are a display apparatus and a method for processing a gesture input. The method for processing a gesture input of the display apparatus according to an embodiment of the present invention includes: a step of setting a gesture input mode according to an operation of the display apparatus; a step of displaying information about the set gesture input mode in one area of a screen; a step of receiving the user gesture input; and a step of performing an output corresponding to the received user gesture input.
