<p>In the present invention, disclosed are a mobile terminal in which settings related to the mobile terminal can be easily changed through a touch panel disposed in the outside of a display unit, and a method for controlling the same. To this end, the mobile terminal comprises: a display unit for displaying information; a touch panel disposed to surround the display unit; and a control unit for controlling an operation mode which an operation mode control icon indicates to be turned on when drag movement of a pointer touching the operation mode control icon in a first direction is sensed after the operation mode control icon displayed through the touch panel is touched, and controlling the operation mode which the operation mode control icon indicates to be turned off when drag movement of a pointer touching the operation mode control icon in a second direction is sensed.</p> |
