The present invention relates to a method for producing glycidol from glycerol through glycerol carbonate producing reaction and decarboxylation reaction of the produced glycerol carbonate. More specifically, the method comprises the following steps of: i) producing glycerol carbonate by reacting glycerol with dialkyl carbonate; and ii) producing glycidol by performing decarboxylation to the glycerol carbonate. In the step i), base is added as a catalyst, and after the step i), a metal salt is generated by reacting the base with acid, so the generated salt is used as a catalyst for the step ii). According to the present invention, glycerol as a byproduct generated when biodiesel or the like is produced is used as a start raw material, and by using cheap and easily-purchasable acid and base, glycidol can be produced through a convenient, simple, and environmentally-friendly method to have high yield and selectivity without separating a catalyst. |
