Provided is a drop-type fire extinguishing body that enables, at the time of fire extinguishing using a gel fire extinguishing agent, the fire extinguishing agent to be smoothly conveyed and dropped. A drop-type fire extinguishing body (1) to be dropped onto the site of a fire to extinguish the fire is characterized in that a gelatinizing agent (3) is accommodated in a bag body (2) of a permeable material, and water is made to infiltrate the bag body and mix with the gelatinizing agent to create a gel fire-extinguishing agent which is thereby filled into the interior of the bag body.
