PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To develop a new nucleic acid detection agent that has a nucleic acid detection sensitivity of the same degree as that in an ethidium bromide method, but is easily handled, and has no risk of nucleic acid damage due to excitation light. ! SOLUTION: The nucleic acid detection agent contains, as an effective component, a polythiophene derivative mainly constituted by a thiophene ring constitutional unit having a specific structure having a phosphonium side chain. The polythiophene derivative is (i) a polythiophene derivative in which the ratio of the HT bond to all bonds of thiophene rings is 90% or more, or (ii) a polythiophene derivative synthesized by a catalyst movable type polycondensation method. !
