[Class 20(i)] A lamp standard comprises a pillar M supporting a cantilever bracket L of concrete in which is cast a metal box A, adapted to contain control means G for a light source supported by the bracket, and serving as a reinforcement therefor. A tube C in the pillar M and a tube E incast in the bracket L serve as conduits for a gas or electric supply and are connected in the box A which may have one or both of its sides detachable. The tube E and a tie-rod B are secured to the box A and reinforce the bracket L and the concrete pillar M respectively.
