PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power consumption when using field sequential drive to switch and display a color moving image and a monochrome still image.SOLUTION: In a moving image mode, a drive control circuit controls a backlight unit and a display panel to allow a color image to be visible with multiple colors of a first light source mixed together, by switching in time sequence the emission of light corresponding to one of the multiple colors of the first light source and the writing of an image signal on the display panel, in each color of the multiple colors. In a still image mode, the drive control circuit controls the backlight unit and the display panel to allow a black-and-white image to be visible, by maintaining the light emission from a second light source and the writing of an image signal on the display panel for a certain period. |
