Provided is a control method for an electrical storage system, with which the efficiency of the entire electrical storage system can be improved. This control method is for an electrical storage system in which multiple sets of storage cells and converters are connected in parallel to a power system, and is characterized by being provided with a total charge/discharge power determination unit for setting total charge/discharge power by the multiple sets of storage cells and converters, and a power distribution determination unit for distributing to the multiple sets of storage cells and converters the total charge/discharge power that has been set by the total charge/discharge power determination unit; the power distribution determination unit comparing the total charge/discharge power and the critical power observed when the conversion efficiency of the converters reaches a benchmark efficiency or above, and when the total charge/discharge power is greater than or equal to the critical power, determines the number of operating sets at which the output of all of the operating sets of storage cells and converters is equal to or greater than the critical power. |
