PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow user equipment (UE) to scan a neighboring cell having a different frequency using a method of high power efficiency.SOLUTION: The UE selects 502 a mode from between a first scanning mode and a second scanning mode by using at least input of signal quality of a link with a connection node and at least one of UE speed and network type of the connection node. The UE 502 then determines 504 a scanning rate of the selected scanning mode, and detects/measures 506 the neighboring cell in the different frequency in accordance with the determined scanning rate. In both modes, the scanning rate is increased with increase of user equipment speed. In the first mode, the scanning rate is set 508 to zero regardless of the UE speed when the speed exceeds a threshold value Vt1. In the second mode, a constant maximum scanning rate is set 510 regardless of the UE speed the when the UE speed exceeds a threshold value Vt2. |
