SOLUTION: The present invention relates to a piston ring in which a resin-based film is formed on at least one of upper and lower side surfaces of a piston ring base material, just under the resin-based film being a plateau structure, the resin-based film containing hard particles, and an average particle size of the hard particles being 0.5 to 2 times as large as an average width of an opening portion of a trough part of the plateau structure. !
