PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and method for sensing body information to acquire body volume information at long and short distances and acquire blood flow information at a closest distance.SOLUTION: An apparatus and method for sensing body information are provided. The apparatus for sensing body information includes: a light-emitting device configured to emit a light signal toward an object to be sensed; a light-receiving device configured to detect a reflected light signal reflected from the object to be sensed; an image sensor configured to detect the reflected light signal reflected from the object to be sensed; and a controller configured to selectively drive at least one of the light-receiving device and the image sensor according to a distance between the object to be sensed and the light-emitting device, to acquire the reflected light signal, and to determine volume information on the object to be sensed and the object to be sensed the by using the reflected light signal.
