PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact autoinjector which does not require a mechanical sequencing or latch system or the like to sequence the syringe advance movement and the syringe plunger movement of the autoinjector.SOLUTION: A syringe 12 comprises a syringe body 14, a needle 18, and a piston 20. An autoinjector comprises: a housing 10 for sliding movement between a retracted position and an injection position during use; and a drive mechanism 30-36. The drive mechanism includes a plunger 42, an intermediate drive member 34, a first compression drive spring 30, and a second compression drive spring 32. Upon release of the drive mechanism in the autoinjector, the intermediate drive member 34 and the plunger 42 are immediately freed for relative movement. |
