<p>T The present application relates to methods and devices for monitoring a first substance, in particular products and materials such as pharmaceutical products using spectroscopic analysis of labels of a second substance attached to such a first substance so as to authenticate, track and monitor events subsequent to the manufacture of such substances, products and materials at various points in time and at various locations as they pass through the supply chain. The spectral response of the second substance which acts as a label changes as a function of time e.g. also as a function of temperature and may therefore be used to track the (cumulative) history of the first substance since its manufacture assuming the second substance is positioned proximate to the first substance promptly after such manufacture. The conditions which may be monitored via the response of the first substance are e.g. time, temperature, pressure, humidity and changes in atmospheric gases or radiation exposure.</p> |
