PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radio communication apparatus capable of increasing network efficiency while ensuing synchronization between two nodes.SOLUTION: A radio communication apparatus compliant to CSL shifts from a sleep state to a reception standby state only during a start-up time intermittently generated in each reception period to receive a data signal transmitted subsequently to a wake-up packet by a transmission side apparatus and return a reception response signal to the transmission side apparatus when receiving the data signal. The radio communication apparatus includes: an extension necessity determination unit for determining the existence/absence of a failure of receiving a data signal or a possibility of the failure by using data signal reception information; and a start-up time extension unit for making, when it is determined that there is a failure of receiving a data signal or a possibility of the failure, start-up time applied after the determination extend from a basic start-up time.
