PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a washing machine capable of effectively eliminating deviation of laundry in a drum.SOLUTION: A washing machine 1 includes: a drum 4 for accommodating laundry L; a pulsator 5 provided in the drum 4; a motor 6 for rotating the drum 4 and the pulsator 5; a rotational frequency reading device 39 for detecting deviation of the laundry L in the drum 4; and a control unit 30. The control unit 30, prior to the dewatering start of the laundry L, determines presence/absence of deviation of the laundry L in the drum 4 on the basis of the detection result by the rotational frequency reading device 39. The control unit 30, when it determines that deviation of the laundry L is absent, starts dewatering of the laundry L by controlling the motor 6 so that the drum 4 performs dewatering rotation, and when it determines that the deviation of the laundry L is present, prior to allowing the drum 4 and the pulsator 5 to rotate at speed different from each other, applies a brake on the rotation of the drum 4. |
