PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus configured to prevent false detection of a failure when a plurality of temperature control modes are switched to control fixing temperature.SOLUTION: A switching control section determines whether a temperature Ts detected by a temperature sensor is equal to or higher than a threshold Tth1 (S3). The temperature detected by the temperature sensor is less than the threshold Tth1 (No in S3), the switching control section sets a temperature control mode of a fixing roller, to on-off control mode (S4). In step S3, when the temperature detected by the temperature sensor is determined to be equal to or higher than the threshold Tth1 (Yes in S3), the switching control section sets the temperature control mode of the fixing roller, to PID control mode (S10). A detection prohibition section prohibits a first failure detection section from detecting a failure (S11). When the fixing roller 27 is temperature-controlled by switching from the on-off control mode to the PID control mode, false detection of a failure can be prevented, accordingly. |
