PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing apparatus with a simple configuration, configured to prevent gloss unevenness to be caused when a fixing member is worn by an edge of a recording medium. ! SOLUTION: A fixing apparatus includes at least: an endless belt-shaped fixing member; a nip forming member which is arranged inside the fixing member to rotatably hold the fixing member, and applies biasing force to an inside surface of the fixing member in a nip formation surface; a pressure roller which is biased by the nip forming member via the fixing member, to rotate the fixing member; and heating means which heats the fixing member. The fixing apparatus includes: a skew control member which comes into contact with one axial end of the fixing member, to regulate a position in a rotation axis direction of the fixing member; and speed difference generation means which rotates the skew control member relative to the fixing member.
