The invention relates to a method for producing a copolymer composition A) by radical copolymerisation of a monomer composition which contains 2-acrylamide-2-methylpropane sulfonic acid (monomer a) and at least one copolymerisable comonomer, provided that the 2-acrylamide-2-methylpropane sulfonic acid a) is neutralised before being used in the polymerization by means of an amine component AM) which is selected from amines which have exclusively secondary and/or tertiary amino groups, wherein the amino groups of the amine component AM) are used in at least equimolar amounts based on the sulfonic acid groups of the 2-acrylamide-2-methylpropane sulfonic acid, and the polymerisation takes place in a solvent which comprises at least one alcohol or consists of at least one alcohol. The invention further relates to a copolymer composition A) which can be obtained by such a method, to a cosmetic agent which contains such a copolymer composition A), and to the use of said copolymer composition A).
