PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flocculation solid-liquid separation method in which when an inorganic flocculant and a phenolic polymer are added to organic matter-containing water to be treated, particularly biological metabolism-derived polymeric organic matter-containing water to be treated, and solid-liquid separation is performed on the resulting water to be treated, a removal rate of the organic matter is increased and a residue of a low molecular weight component of the phenolic polymer is reduced, which residue becomes a contaminant of a RO membrane or an ion exchange resin in the succeeding stage.SOLUTION: The flocculation solid-liquid separation method comprises the steps of: adding a polymer compound having a phenolic hydroxyl group and the inorganic flocculant to the water to be treated; adding a cationic polymer flocculant having 0.23 dL/g intrinsic viscosity to the resulting water to be treated; and performing solid-liquid separation on the flocculant-added water to be treated. Since an electrostatic interaction is produced between a phenolic hydroxyl group-derived negative charge and the cationic polymer flocculant, the residual low molecular weight component is bonded to the cationic polymer flocculant to form a complex and the formed complex is stuck to a flocculated product so that the residual amount of the low molecular weight component can be reduced. |
